The Coca-Cola 600: NASCAR's Endurance Test

The Coca-Cola 600 is not a sports car endurance race, but at 600 miles, it is the longest event on the NASCAR Cup schedule. It starts in the afternoon and finishes well after dark. Tire wear, fuel strategy, and driver stamina all come into play.

Held every year on Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Some drivers attempt the "double," racing the Indianapolis 500 earlier in the day and then flying to Charlotte for the 600.

Three stages spread across 600 miles give squares pools three chances to pay out. The car number leading at each stage break is all that matters for the board.
